1. India invented the Number System. Zero was invented by Aryabhata

It will be no wrong if we say that the discovery of Zero is the greatest abstraction of the human mind and it changed the way people used to do the mathematics . Zero (0) was fully invented by Aryabhattin 5th century AD .

Zero is an important part of number system and is the basis of a computer . This invention later helped people do complicated equations and calculation which was not that easy before the invention of zero.

2. Ayurveda is the earliest school of medicine known to humans

When world was struggling to get rid of pains and diseases which they are not aware of . India’s Ayurveda came up with medicines to save the mankind . Charaka known as the the father of medicine consolidated Ayurveda 2500 years ago .

we can also says , It was India who first saved the mankind and gave it something (medicine) which it needs the most


3. India was the richest country on earth until the time of British invasion

India was called sunheri chidiya ( golden bird ) before British invasion. By 18th century India was the only country where diamonds were found . Initially diamonds were only found in the alluvial deposits in Guntur and Krishna District of the Krishna River Delta .

According to the Gemological Institute of America , up until 1896, India was the only source for diamonds to the world. Later, In late 18th century diamonds were found in Brazil .


4. The art of Navigation was born in the river Sindh 6000 years ago

A panel found at Mohenjodaro, depicting a sailing craft. Vessels were of many types Their construction is vividly described in the Yukti Kalpa Taru an ancient Indian text on Ship-building.

In those days India had colonies, in Cambodia (Kambuja in Sanskrit) in Java, (Chavakam ) in Sumatra, in Borneo, Socotra (Sukhadhara) and even in Japan. Indian traders had established settlements in Southern China, in the Malayan Peninsula, in Arabia, in Egypt, in Persia, etc., Through the Persians and Arabs, India had cultivated trade relations with the Roman Empire.

There were Sanskrit terms for many parts of a ship. The ship’s anchor was known as Nava-Bandhan-Kilaha which literally means ‘A Nail to tie up a ship’ . The sail was called Vata Vastra a which means ‘wind-cloth’. The hull was termed StulaBhaga i.e. an “expanded are”.


5. Bhaskaracharya first calculated the time taken by the earth to orbit the sun

The famous Hindu mathematician, Bhaskaracharya, in his treatise Surya Siddhanta, calculated the time taken for the earth to orbit the sun to nine decimal places (365.258756484 days).

Bhaskaracharya rightly calculated the time taken by the earth to orbit the sun hundreds of years before the astronomer Smart. His calculations was – Time taken by earth to orbit the sun 365.258756484 days was made in 5th century and he has also given a very simple method to determine the circumference of the Earth.


6. The value of pi was first calculated by Budhayana

Budhayana was the first person to calculate the value of pi , long before the European mathematician . He calculated it in 6th century .

He was the one who explained the concept of what is known as the Pythagorean Theorem .


7. Shampooing is an Indian concept

Shampoo was invented in India . Here we are not talking about the solution one which comes in bottle these days but the method of using herbs .

And the word ‘shampoo’ itself has been derived from the Sanskrit word “champu” which means to massage.


8. The first country to consume sugar was India

The word “Sugar” is believed to be derived from Sanskrit .nSugar was first produced from sugarcane plants in northern India sometime after the first century CE.

India was the first country to develop extraction and purifying techniques of sugar. The process of purification and refining of sugar is also taught by India to the world.


9. Hitler offered Dhyan Chand German citizenship

In the 1936 Berlin Olympics After India defeated Germany by 8-1 . Major Dhyan Chand known as wizard of hockey, was summoned by Hitler .

He was promised German citizenship, a high post in the German military and the chance to play for the German national side. Dhyan Chand however declined the offer.

10. Sushruta is the father of surgery

2600 years ago Sushruta and health scientists of his time conducted many complicated surgeries. Cesareans, cataract, artificial limbs, fractures, urinary stones and even plastic surgery and brain surgery are among one of them .

Usage of anesthesia was well known in ancient India. Over 125 surgical equipment were used. And Deep knowledge of anatomy, physiology, etiology, embryology,digestion, metabolism, genetics and immunity is also found in many texts.
